COUNSELLING
I am a counsellor/psychotherapist based in Methven (Perthshire). I offer face-to-face and telephone counselling to adults on an open ended contract. This means that you can book as many or as few sessions as you like – we will be finishing our work together when you feel that it is the right time for you to step away from counselling.
Sessions tends to follow a routine pattern of weekly/fortnightly meetings on the same day and time of the week, unless we have made a different agreement due to a specific reason. Following an enquiry, I offer an initial meeting (approx. ½ hour, in person, on-line or telephone) for us to go through practicalities and to find out whether we are the right match for counselling. Once we have agreed to work together, sessions last 60 minutes and I ask for a £45 fee per session.
My approach is Relational and Integrative and I can help you explore a broad range of difficulties you may be going through, whether these are due to present challenges or past struggles. For me being a counsellor is being able to provide a safe space where you can relax and explore whatever is important for you in a way which is meaningful to you. Whether your natural process of ‘making sense’ may be predominantly cognitive or through creative expression, it is my aim to support your unique journey of exploration.
I have been offering counselling for nearly 20 years; I came to the counselling profession with more than 10 years’ experience of working in the field of addiction, mental health and trauma.

SUPERVISION
I offer 1:1 and group clinical supervision to qualified and trainee counsellors/psychotherapists from any theoretical background. I am based in Methven (Perthshire) and I work both in person and on-line; I am also willing to travel to your workplace if contracted by an organisation.
My approach is Relational and Integrative and my main aim as a supervisor is to support you through your learning by offering a safe space for exploration and reflection. I have an interest in holistic, somatic and creative practices as a way to better understand ourselves in the therapeutic relationship.
I have been working in the helping professions for more than 30 years as a practitioner, manager, counsellor and supervisor in the field of addiction, mental health and trauma. My personal interest in movement and creative expression led me to qualify as a Dance Movement Psychotherapist and to work in a primary school, a residential home for adult living with learning difficulties and an NHS ward for older adults affected by dementia, as well as offering group movement psychotherapy to clients in residential secondary treatment for addiction.
Most of my current work as a counsellor is in private practice and through the Employment Assistance Programme (EAP). I have a passion for wellbeing and I offer workshops, group work and 1:1 mentoring to all practitioners of the helping professions. It is my aim and wish to facilitate body and sensory awareness through creative expression and movement as a way to prevent burn out from emotional fatigue.
